A Ripple Effect

Recently, my daughter and I were walking through the park. It was a beautiful sunny day, when something caught her eye. It was a big fountain of water, spilling into a small pool. She was immediately captivated. As she got closer, she noticed that it was full of pennies. I knew what was coming next, so I reached into my pocket and pulled out a shiny penny. She threw it in the water and watched the ripples spread. Then she said this, “Daddy, how can a small penny make such a big wave?” You know, it’s a lot like our spiritual lives. By taking a leap of faith, you may never know the impact that you’ve made on someone else’s life. One small act of obedience can influence multitudes.  Click on the audio bar below to hear Richard Hamlet share from the book of Numbers.

Real Time in the Marketplace

victoria-hearst-01-headshotLast week on Ministry in the Marketplace, Richard sat down with Ms. Victoria Hearst. She’s the founder and president of Praise Him Ministries in Ridgeway, Colorado. Over the years, her family name has made quite the impact in the media world. Her grandfather, William Randolph Hearst, founded the nation’s largest newspaper chain. The Hearst Corporation now publishes multiple newspapers and magazines including, Cosmopolitan. Victoria decided that it was time to take a stand against the negative impact that Cosmo is having on minors. That’s when she launched the Cosmo Harms Minors campaign. Today, we’ve invited Victoria back to the program. Click on the audio bar below to find out more.

Real Time in the Marketplace

victoria-hearst-02-headshotLet’s turn back the Ministry in the Marketplace time capsule to the 1880’s. In America, innovation was thriving. The Washington Monument and the Brooklyn Bridge were completed, Thomas Edison had just invented the light bulb, William Randolph Hearst acquired his first newspaper and would then go on to build the largest newspaper conglomerate in America. Mr. Hearst bought his first magazine in 1905, Cosmopolitan. Over the years, it’s evolved from being a family magazine to a women’s magazine. Today, some would say that Cosmo is a moral violation when you’re standing in the checkout line. Today’s guest is the Granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, Ms. Victoria Hearst. She joins us to talk about her ministry in Colorado and how she is working to make a positive difference on the next generation.
