What is the most familiar and most remembered verse in the Bible? If you are thinking, John 3:16, you are correct. Many learn this verse as a child and remember it for the rest of their life, but never truly comprehend the just how wonderful is the love of God. Of course, in part, that is because our finite minds cannot ever completely grasp the magnitude of His love. Yet, this amazing verse tells us that God loves every one. He is not a respecter of persons. No one is so deep in sin that Jesus does not go deep enough to rescue them. Tune in as Richard L. Hamlet shares about the width, the depth, and the height of God’s consuming, compelling, and transforming love from John 3:16.
Real Time in the Marketplace
Our Real Time spotlight shines on Steve Nash, the Founder and Executive Director of Advance Memphis. Advance Memphis serves adults in the Cleaborn/Foote community of inner city Memphis. In 1999, this area was listed as the 3rd poorest urban zip code in the nation. Advance Memphis began that same year as Steve Nash started helping friends from the neighborhood connect with job opportunities.
Since then, staff and programs have been added, beginning with financial literacy programs and growing to include job readiness and much more. Steve and Advance Memphis found that it is not enough to simply offer a job to an individual raised in generational poverty. So, Advance Memphis offers holistic programs that rely heavily on instilling knowledge and skills along with relational support. Tune in as Steve shares more about how they are making a difference in Memphis.
Real World Impact
Back in 1999, God laid it on Steve Nash’s heart to create an organization that brings hope, knowledge, resources, and even useful skills to individuals who are less fortunate; people who may be lacking specific support systems. Richard asked Steve if he could choose one story to share on the program of how Advance Memphis has changed someone’s life. He immediately thought of Ray-Ray. Tune in to hear Ray-Ray and his side of the story.
