During the first century, the Romans typically searched for a righteousness based on works. Today this paradigm is still prevalent. Many feel they have to do more and more to hopefully meet God’s expectations. How do you address this type of thinking as you share Christ in the marketplace? The Apostle Paul addressed it with the good news of the Gospel.
God’s standard of righteousness must be met. Righteousness does depend on fulfilling the God’s laws. God shows no partiality. No one is so wicked they cannot be saved and no one is so righteous that they need not be saved. Yet, trying to meet God’s standard of righteousness by doing works is an exercise in futility. As Paul shared with the Romans, because of Jesus Christ, the good news is that our righteousness is not based on our work. It rests on the work that Jesus has already completed. Tune as Richard L. Hamlet shares three vital observations from Romans 10:13. These observations will help you in explaining the righteousness available to each of us to those who might feel they have to work their way to heaven.
