Do you know that feeling you get when you experience something new? Maybe it’s a materialistic item such as a new pair of shoes, or even a new car. There’s just something about the word “new” that gets people excited. I believe we all face times in life when we feel stuck in our routines… needing to feel refreshed. Jesus said, “If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation.” He goes on to say, “The old has gone, the new has come.” Today, Richard Hamlet digs into the book of Philemon and talks about the transforming power of God and His ability to give everyone a fresh start.

Maybe after that first cup or two, we put our glasses on and reach for a morning devotional book, or maybe open up the Bible to where we left off before. Believe it or not, some of us still reach for a newspaper, while others prefer their iPad or smartphone. But the one thing most of us have in common is the ability to read. Right here in your hometown, there are an extraordinary amount of people that are functionally illiterate. In fact, they’re all around us. Many are ashamed t o reveal that they have this challenge.
